Governance and Scheme of Delegation
BackThe Goldfinch Trust has a clear and accountable governance structure designed to ensure effective oversight, strategic leadership and school improvement.
Our model includes Members, a Trust Board, Board Committees, and Local Governing Bodies (LGBs). This structure [MC2] ensures that each layer of governance has a defined role, with appropriate challenge and support mechanisms built in.
The Trust Board retains overall legal responsibility for all decisions, but many functions are delegated to other teams, including the CEO, central team, headteachers and LGBs. Delegation is carefully mapped across the areas of leadership and strategy, education, safeguarding, finance and operations.
Each LGB supports the individual school’s performance, holding leaders to account and ensuring that trust-wide strategies are enacted effectively at school level. The Scheme of Delegation is reviewed regularly and reflects best practice, Department for Education guidance, and the operational realities of the trust.
