SEN Provision

Our hospital school provides personalised, flexible support for pupils with Special Educational Needs, recognising that each young person arrives with different abilities, challenges and medical circumstances.

We begin by gathering key information from families, home schools and medical teams so we can understand each pupil’s needs from the moment they join us. Using this information, we adapt lessons, offer targeted interventions and create individual learning plans that reflect both their educational goals and their health requirements.

Teaching is carefully tailored so that pupils can continue learning at a pace that suits them. Staff use a range of approaches—including multisensory activities, visual support, and adapted resources—to help pupils access the curriculum.

Because pupils may be unwell, tired or anxious, our professional team have been trained to identify the signs of fatigue, pain and distress, and to identify when pupils learning journey for the session has finished, ensuring learning feels safe, achievable and positive.

We work closely with therapists, nurses, doctors and families to provide joined‑up care. This teamwork helps us make the right adjustments and ensures pupils can learn in a way that supports their wellbeing. For pupils who stay with us longer, we track progress carefully and adjust support over time. When pupils return to their home school, we share clear information to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

In everything we do, our aim is to ensure that every pupil with SEN is understood, supported and able to succeed, no matter how long they are with us.
