A Proud Milestone for The Goldfinch Trust

We are delighted to announce that Maudsley and Bethlem Hospital School, part of The Goldfinch Trust, has been awarded the Gold RACE Charter Mark by Fig Tree International.

This prestigious recognition celebrates the school's sustained commitment to racial equity, inclusion and belonging, reflecting three years of continuous development and meaningful progress.

A Journey of Continuous Improvement

The school's achievement marks an important milestone:

  • Bronze – July 2023
  • Silver – July 2024
  • Gold – July 2026

Reaching Gold is a testament to the dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly to ensure every child and young person feels valued, respected and supported.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly proud of everyone who has contributed to this achievement. We also look forward to sharing our journey with the wider education community, as our CEO, Maarten Crommelin, and Philippa Levy present at the upcoming RACE Charter Mark Conference.

🐣 Happy Easter from The Goldfinch Trust! We recently welcomed chicks into our setting. Pupils loved holding and helping to care for the chicks. Their gentle cheeping brought joy across the school while supporting relaxation, engagement and empathy. A simple but powerful learning experience.

🎶 Music on the Wards Pupils at King’s College Hospital School, part of The Goldfinch Trust, enjoyed live music sessions across the wards with musicians from CLS. Families shared how calming and uplifting the experience was during hospital stays. Thank you for bringing music to the wards!

🐶 Sometimes the school visitor has four paws... At St Peter’s Centre, pupils occasionally enjoy visits from a staff member’s adorable dog. Research shows interactions with animals can reduce stress and support emotional wellbeing for young people. A small moment that brightens the school day!
