Pupils at Maudsley and Bethlem Hospital School, part of The Goldfinch Trust, recently welcomed Liam Conlon, MP for Beckenham and Penge, for his third consecutive annual visit to the school.
As part of their Citizenship lessons, pupils participated in an engaging Q&A session, gaining valuable insight into life in the House of Commons and the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament.
Our young people made the most of the opportunity, asking informed, thoughtful and challenging questions that greatly impressed Liam.
Following his visit, Liam shared his reflections on his official Instagram page, recognising the dedication of our staff and the important role hospital education plays in supporting young people.
"It was great to visit NHS Bethlem Hospital School in Eden Park this morning - to spend time speaking with staff and holding a fantastic Q&A with students.
This is my third consecutive year visiting the Hospital School, and I’m always impressed by the dedication of the staff and the support they provide. They do an incredible job of helping pupils continue their education, build their confidence and maintain a sense of routine during what can be a very difficult time for them and their families."
His words reflect the dedication of colleagues across The Goldfinch Trust, who work to ensure that young people can continue learning, developing and achieving, regardless of the challenges they may be facing.
Visits such as these support our approach to inclusive education, creating opportunities for young people to engage with their communities, explore democratic processes and recognise the value of their own voices.
